Vol 42 Issue 11

Hunter Hourany for Horizons

Goodbye from the Chief Online Editor

Nevaeh Allen, Chief Online Editor

To the Readers and Game players of Horizons, as this is my last issue, I hope you all help our legacy continue. Your ideas, outreach and excitement are what help us keep going especially when it takes three years to get our new website up and running. To my past and current Horizons Team, thank you for being you and allowing me to be a part of this space and this family for so long. When I joined Horizons as a Web Editor and quickly became the Chief Online Editor, I had no idea the impact that a small student run newspaper would have on a university, let alone on my life. Through the late night discord calls and production nights, the articles I've written, the pages I've designed, the emails I've written, and the struggles with those above us, I have never been alone. I know I never will be. The family and memories I made during my time in Horizons is something I will cherish forever. I know you will do amazing things as Horizons continues and I can't wait to see where it ends up.

To the next Chief Online Editor, have the best time with Archives and know that even though you are behind the scenes, I will recognize your work and feel pride every time. :)

With all my Love,

Nevaeh Allen, Chief Online Editor 2022-2026

"School Spirit"

Letter from Chief Copy Editor

Kayleigh Bisset, Chief Copy Editor

As this academic year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on everything Horizons has been this year—not just a newspaper, but a space where voices find clarity, stories find purpose, and our community finds connection.

My short time serving as Chief Copy Editor so far has been both a responsibility and a privilege. Every article that crossed my screen carried a unique perspective, and it has been incredibly rewarding to help shape those ideas into something polished and impactful. From late-night edits to last-minute revisions, the work behind the scenes has been constant, but always meaningful.

What stands out most to me is the dedication of our staff. I’m super thankful to the writers who pushed through deadlines, editors who cared about every detail, and a team that’s continuously striving to improve; Horizons is what it is because of all of you. Your commitment to telling stories that matter is what gives this newspaper its voice.

I also want to thank our readers. Your engagement, support, and curiosity are what make this work worth doing. Journalism and writing, at its core, is about connection, and you are an essential part of that.

As we move forward, I hope Horizons will continue to grow, challenge perspectives, and amplify voices that deserve to be heard. For me, this role has not just been writing and editing, but contributing to something lasting.

Thank you for allowing me to help represent all of your voices this year.

With all my love,

Kayleigh (KJ) Bisset
