Silver Wings is a Recognized Student Organization that is military affiliated. Their mission statement reads: “Silver Wings (SW) is a national, co-ed, professional organization dedicated to creating proactive, knowledgeable, and effective civic leaders through community service and education about national defense.”
When asked about the biggest benefit of joining Silver Wings, member Brian Park expressed, “Professional Development. Currently I have a position as a Public Affairs Officer. I take photos of events, edit them, and upload them to social media. By doing this, I can engage with other Silver Wings organizations all over the states. Additionally, since Silver Wings is mostly consisted of Air Force ROTC, cadets, and officers, I can directly and quickly learn more about US military life.”
On Eagle Life, memberships benefit such as: Scholarship Opportunities (Academic, Flight), Internship Opportunities (Air Force Association, IronNet Cyber Security, Pentagon, Air Force Civilian Service, and more!), Regional Conferences, and AFROTC Affiliation are listed.
Silver Wings goals are clear and concise. Their members strive for Professional Development, Personal Development, and Civic Awareness.
When Park was asked about a time in which he applied what he learned in Silver Wings to his day-to-day life, he told Horizons, “Professionalism. Silver Wings is a professional organization dedicated to support community service and education about national defense. Having professionalism day-to-day has been helping me connect to more people, not just for friendship but for business connections, too. I gained more connections with people in our campus by acting and thinking professionally.”
