Alumni Engagement Introduction

By Michelle Day, Alumni Engagement Director

To new students, welcome!  To returning students, welcome back!  We are excited for

a new Fall semester at Alumni Engagement,  located in building 37. What does the Alumni Engagement department do?  We actively engage alumni with the university through networking events, LIFT magazine, Social Media, Octoberwest and more.

I travel throughout the western region of the US organizing events, attending air shows, conventions and conferences.  During these travels I meet ERAU alumni working in all aspects of our industry. Through conversations with alumni and people in the industry I learn about internship and employment possibilities which I then share with students, faculty and staff on campus.

Networking is one of the best activities you can participate in to help obtain an internship or full time position.  Octoberwest is a prime opportunity to practice those networking skills without having to travel, the alumni and industry people come to Prescott! Whether you are at an event or just around campus, take the time to stop and have a conversation with some alumni.  You might be surprised at what you learn.  They enjoy speaking with students to find out what is going on with current and new degree programs, plus the struggles and joys that all students face (even if

it was 20+ years ago, they went through the same things you are going through now).  The shared experience called Embry-Riddle brings us all together.

I encourage all of you to stop by building 37 and introduce yourself. Have a great semester!
