By Martin S. Hussey Jr.
The man I paint is no ordinary man,
He is Rodrigo Borgias, Pope of Rome.
Between Ireland and the land of Ottoman,
He spreads God’s word through Christendom.
Yet Borgias is mortal, tempted by sin
That the Son of God crafts to be
His papacy corrupted to support his kin
Will be remembered for years to come.
And his love for the arts and their makers like me
Will be forgotten over the gossip his rivals drum.
