Out and About: A COVID Review of Bill’s Pizza

COVID Safety Rating: 3.5/5

Taste Rating: 5/5

With the COVID pandemic continuing in full force, restaurants around town have settled into a routine with the new regulations. While still an inconvenience, masks and cleaning procedures are now typical tasks for workers. The same can be said about Bill’s Pizza, located right in the center of Downtown.

Bill’s Pizza is a legendary favorite of Prescott. The restaurant offers 22 combinations of their own “creations,” which include a range of sauces, toppings and cheeses. The pizzas are offered in either 13” or 18” sizes, or could be bought by the slice. Bill’s Pizza sells the classics, such as plain pepperoni, but also has options as creative as “Marlow & Luke’s Pizza,” which includes garlic-infused olive oil, mushrooms, cooked spinach, red onion, Sicilian sausage, tomato, roasted garlic, mozzarella and bleu cheese crumbles.

While I have yet to hear a negative review about any of the combinations that Bill’s offers, some of my personal favorites are the “Chicken Pesto” and the “Chicken Alfredo.” The “Chicken Pesto” contains pesto sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, chicken, diced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil, and the “Chicken Alfredo” has alfredo sauce, roasted garlic, red onions, chicken, shaved asiago, mozzarella cheese and fresh parsley. These combinations have never disappointed me and I would recommend them to anyone going to Bill’s. These two pizzas alone would earn Bill’s Pizza a 5/5 in my eyes, and the many other options only add to the restaurant quality. On all pizzas, the crust is delightfully flavored and not greasy. In addition to this, the pizza at Bill’s is the type of pizza that you can eat a lot of without feeling overly full.

In regards to COVID safety regulations, I would rate Bill’s Pizza to be at 3.5/5 stars. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a hand sanitization table directly in front of the door. Using the sanitizer is optional, but the notes on the table and placement of it encourage customers to take advantage of the offer. The workers in Bill’s Pizza wore masks at all times and had clean appearances. Additionally, the separate tables were socially distanced and allowed for peace of mind once the masks came off upon sitting down at a table. Overall, Bill’s Pizza appears to be successfully keeping up with local regulations regarding COVID-19 safety procedures. The one misstep I noticed that dropped their rating was that the workers of the restaurant did not enforce mask-wearing on the customers. While there are medical exceptions to mask-wearing, it

seemed that some customers who entered simply chose not to wear a mask, even when they were not seated at tables. More strictly enforcing the safety regulations would immensely improve Bill’s Pizza’s safety ratings, as this is an extremely important component of preventing more COVID-19 cases.

Bill’s Pizza is a fantastic option in the heart of Downtown Prescott for pizza-lovers, and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone. Stricter safety regulations are this restaurant’s key to becoming a top-tier restaurant in town.
