Featured Starbucks Drink: Apple Pie Frappuccino

What to Order: A Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccino, add one pump Hazelnut, a splash of apple juice, and a shake of nutmeg. Whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and cinnamon on top.

Discovered in time for the holidays, here is another internet, barista, and customer creation: The “Apple Pie Frappuccino.” Deceivingly made with some ingredients that wouldn’t lead the creator to think it would taste like the familiar homemade dessert, this Frappuccino is delicious and quite the perfect hidden holiday drink. Using a crème-based recipe, so it has no coffee taste and is absent of caffeine, this concoction uses flavor elements from different profiles to create the homey taste. It is super sweet, very picture-ready, and honestly suitable to everyone with a sweet tooth. Ready for the recipe? Here goes:

Start with a Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino. Add one full pump of Hazelnut syrup. Add a splash of apple juice. Throw in a couple shakes of nutmeg then blend. Build the Frappuccino like normal, with whipped cream on the top. Then top the drink with caramel drizzle and cinnamon! Apple-y goodness.

This drink is a lovely beverage and does have a warmer counterpart: The Caramel Apple Spice. The Caramel Apple Spice is differently but comes out with a similar taste. It’s a great option for the moments when it’s too cold outside to order a Frappuccino, but when is that really?

While there is the set list of  annual holiday drinks, this one is a hidden and secret gem. Please make sure to order it as mentioned and should your barista need a photo for inspiration, see the one provided here. As always, if ordering an off-menu item, please make sure to have the ingredient list ready – whether drive-thru order or in person. And of course, for those of you who don’t want to drink milk, subbing in any of the milk alternatives works great here. Remember: for dairy-free, skip the whipped cream. The caramel drizzle also does have traces of dairy-based ingredients.

Have a wonderful time trying this drink and as always, please let me know if you find a cool off-menu drink or think of one. I love to try new things at our beloved Starbucks!
