Food Review: My Big Fat Greek Salad

Recently I watched the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” for the first time and realized all the food that this movie displays look very tasty. Since my roommate and I are on a pretty strict diet I decided to do some research into the food they are making in the movie. I saw a Greek salad and looked up how to make it. It’s pretty cheap to make the salad, as the total cost was 15 dollars and I ate on it for three days. You will need to pick up a few items before you can complete this recipe. The ingredients are a bag of romaine lettuce, one onion, a can of garbanzo beans, feta cheese, one each of  red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, black olives, chicken breasts, sliced carrots, celery, manzanilla olives, and Greek dressing. The ingredients are pretty simple vegetables that will make this salad delicious. 

First, you will need to cook the chicken breast. Place three large chicken breasts on a baking sheet that has been prepared with nonstick spray. Next, turn on your oven and preheat to four-hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the chicken in the oven for thirty-five minutes. During this time, you will need to get out a chopping board and began to chop the vegetables. Also, you will need to get a large bowl to put the vegetables in. Place two big handfuls of romaine lettuce into the bowl. Next, peel the onion and chop half of the onion into small pieces and place in bowl. Then empty the drained garbanzo beans in the bowl. Chop half of all the bell peppers into small pieces and place them in the bowl. Pour the can of black olives into the bowl. Place some shredded carrots into the salad. Chop one celery stick into small pieces and mix with the rest of the ingredients. Open the jar of manzanilla olives and place a small handful of them in the bowl. 

About this time the chicken will be done, and it will be time to chop it into small bite-size pieces. Make sure to cut the fat off the chicken. Place it with the rest of the vegetables. Then pour half of the bottle of Greek salad onto the salad mix and top it off with the feta cheese. Grab your handy salad tossers and toss the salad thoroughly. Now it is time to enjoy the salad with your friends and family. Overall this was a great tasting Greek salad;  I enjoyed all the different tastes.
