Hazy Library and Learning Center now offers access to Kanopy streaming videos. Students, faculty and staff at Embry-Riddle Prescott can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming by visiting www.eraup.kanopy.com directly (it can also be accessed from hazylibrary.erau.edu under the databases tab). In addition to their website, films can also be streamed from any television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku, or even inserted into a course in Canvas.
Can you believe it’s almost November? November marks National Native American Heritage Month, “a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people” (NCAI.org). This makes it a perfect time to check out the Indigenous People of North America collection, located in Kanopy under the Global Studies and Languages Collection. This collection of over 650 films includes winners from the American Indian Film Festival like Songs My Brothers Taught Me, We Breathe Again-The Stories of Four Alaska Native People, and Rhymes for Young Ghouls. It also includes modern documentaries like On a Knife Edge-A Lakota Teenager Fights for Social Justice, In Whose Honor? American Indian Mascots in Sports, and By Blood – Native American Men Fight for Cherokee Citizenship.
Veteran’s Day is another significant November event, and we are grateful for faculty, students and staff who have served. Hazy Library will be marking the occasion with America’s White Table, a symbolic exhibit honoring the men and women who answer the call to duty and the families awaiting their safe return. The exhibit will be on display as you walk into Hazy Library from November 4th through November 12th. To further honor and engage with this observance, check out Kanopy’s military history collection of over 400 streaming films, located under the social sciences collection.
These two highlighted collections for November represent a fraction of what’s available in Kanopy, so hop on and start streaming today! If you have any questions about accessing or using Kanopy, contact Hazy Library at firstname.lastname@example.org.
