Drink Review: Groovy Smoothie

There’s nothing like enjoying a cold drink and getting important nutrients from the Groovy Smoothie makes it the ultimate choice!. As a student I was feeling myself getting scurvy from not getting the proper nutrients every day. After a long hunt of trying to make fruits and vegetables easier to consume I decided to take a trip over to the local Fry’s grocery store. You will need a few things. First, you will need a blender, one cup of orange juice, one cup of kale, a half cup of blue-berries, a half cup of raspberries, one orange, one apple, two scoops of chia seeds, and one scoop of superfood blend. Superfood powder is a blend of broccoli, blueberries, tomatoes, vegan protein, and  vitamins. Ithas a great taste; don’t let the color fool you. All of this will cost you around twenty dollars and it will make about two tall pitcher’s worth. 

First, you will need to get all the ingredients out and prep them. Next, slice the apple up into smaller pieces so you don’t strain your blender. Peel and cut the orange just like the apple. Now place them in  the blender. Now add the cup of kale. Add the half cup of blueberries and half cup of raspberries. Place the two scoops of chia seeds and one scoop of the superfood blend. Be very careful with the superfood because if you add too much it can hurt your stomach. Add a cup of water and try to wet all of the ingredients so that they sink to the bottom of the blender. Add the cup of orange juice. Finally, add two large handfuls of ice. Blend the smoothie on a high setting for roughly five minutes. Make sure everything is blended well and not chunky. Pour and enjoy.

Overall this is a great way to consume your fruits and vegetables and feel better about doing it. It’s a hard thing to do living on campus to consume the nutrients you need to have. With a buffet within walking distance it’s hard to resist the yummy greasy food and skip the salad bar. So making a smoothie was an easy way to consume a great tasting drink and reap the benefits of feeding your body the nutrients it needs to help you study and work harder.
