Drink Review: Hugh’s Blend

5 out of 5 stars

On most mornings, I find myself in awe at how quiet and peaceful this town is. When I crack open my window and let in the relaxed breeze, I feel inclined to sit back and soak it all in. In contrast to the usual hustle of day, the bustle of night, the morning stands as a quiet defense against worry.

I wish I could tell you why, but no matter the morning, brewing a warm cup of coffee for myself seems appropriate. I’d like to recommend one brew in particular to you today. It’s called “Hugh’s Blend”, from the Laughing Man Coffee Company. I owe much to this blend’s namesake and the company’s founder Hugh Jackman, for he’s helped make one of my favorite brews so far.

As I pour the boiling water over the grounds, I’m struck by the calming scent of toasted graham cracker. It reminds me of the warmth of countless bonfires from my youth. The complementary scent of green apple engulfs me next, and I’m reminded of my grandma’s ever plentiful garden. Nostalgia permeates the scent of this dark-colored roast.

As for the taste, I find it to be very soothing, much like hot chocolate. Granted, I take my coffee real sweet–three sugars and a splash of cream. If I were to be poetic, I’d compare it to the warmth of receiving a letter from your sweetheart back home. It instills a warmth in your core that refuses to let up, no matter the harshness of the day to come.

If I’ve convinced you in any way, you can find a bag of grounds for around eight dollars. I encourage you to see if the warm embrace of this brew suits your morning routine. Thank you for reading, and remember to never settle for less than the best.
